The company’s name, Altius, comes from the word “superior” or “higher” in Latin, which forms part of the Olympic motto. It reflects our aspiration to achieve the highest level of excellence in everything we do.
André Matias, an immigration lawyer and Olympian, founded Altius Immigration Law with the purpose of providing a higher level of service to those needing immigration advice.
André Matias
As founder of the firm, Mr. Matias regularly advises individuals and companies on all aspects of U.S. immigration law, including obtaining non-immigrant visas and permanent residency (green cards). He represents clients in the United States and around the world in a variety of industries, providing personalized immigration advice to entrepreneurs, engineers, doctors, academics, as well as artists, athletes and other professionals. Mr. Matias is well-versed in issues related to violations of U.S. immigration law and draws on his experience in successfully litigating complex cases before immigration courts to provide strategic solutions to irregular situations.
Mr. Matias is familiar with the difficulties and challenges that accompany the immigration process from personal experience. An Olympic athlete and an immigrant himself, he combines the knowledge he has acquired during his career as a lawyer with the tireless determination that has accompanied him throughout his years competing at the highest level. This unique combination of experience and passion allows Dr. Matias to understand his clients’ needs and guide them through their immigration journey.
Mr. Matias is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and Hamilton College. He is a native speaker of Portuguese and French and fluent in English and Spanish.
