Baltimore is the one place in Maryland where being local is an actual advantage rather than a marketing line.
The city holds Maryland's USCIS field office, the Application Support Center where biometrics are taken, and one of the state's two immigration courts. Applicants from Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring and Frederick generally travel here at some point in their case. If you live in Baltimore, you do not.
What that actually saves you
Not the outcome — adjustment of status is federal and the standard does not shift by city. What it saves is the thing people underestimate: time off work, and the ability to reschedule.
An interview notice arrives with a date on it. So does a biometrics appointment. For someone commuting from western Maryland, each one is most of a day. For someone in the city it is a morning, and a missed bus is not a missed appointment.
Confirm which office is assigned to your own address on the USCIS Office Locator — assignment is by ZIP code, and Baltimore residents are not automatically routed to the nearest building.
If a case goes to court
Maryland's immigration courts sit in Baltimore and Hyattsville; the EOIR court listing carries the current arrangements. Most adjustment applications never reach one. Where a case does end up before a judge, it is often because something in the immigration history was a threshold question rather than a detail — an entry without inspection, a prior denial, an overstay.
That is the argument for having eligibility assessed properly at the start. A filing that fails does not simply fail; it can put you in front of a judge.

Adjustment of status carries several government filing fees, and they change. Confirm current amounts on the USCIS Fee Schedule (Form G-1055) or the USCIS Fee Calculator.
